My name is Travis Johnson.  I’m a registered Professional Engineer and I have worked in the electric utility industry for 25 years.  In 2007 there was a lot of talk about climate change – and I didn’t really believe it.  So, I started reading everything I could get my hands on.  I spent hours digging through IPCC reports, reading Dr. Oreskes’ works (Harvard), reading Dr. Hanson’s (Columbia) publications, and reading what the scientists were blogging about on realclimate.org.  The problem becomes very clear, especially when your read Dr. Oreskes’ work.   She shows us what scientists have been saying for nearly a century – humans are altering the climate.

I’ve logged over 2,500 miles of travel down many of our country’s most sacred rivers – and a handful of rivers in South America.  This experience has shown me some of the most beautiful places on the planet.  Combine my understanding of utility emissions and my passion for the planet – and that’s what initiated my efforts to start fixing the problem.

The United States consumes around 5,000,000,000 kWh of electrical energy each year.  That’s about 6,000,000,000 lbs. of CO2 that is taken from under the earth’s surface and injected into the atmosphere – each year (not counting the transportation or industrial sectors).  This is changing the dynamics of the atmosphere – and the results will be catastrophic.

This blog will provide ideas for you and your family to help fix the problem.  Together we can fix this planet.
